It’s no secret that one of my favorite parts of my job is seeing children grow up from behind my lens. I am always super excited to plan first birthday sessions for past newborns I’ve photographed. One thing I really enjoy is using a prop for a one year old session that we used in a newborn session. For this sweet guy we used his dad’s football. How cool is it to see how tiny he was leaning on the football. Now that he’s one, he can hold onto it himself! Since his birthday was close to Christmas, I also photographed him in front of the family Christmas tree just like we did for his newborn pictures. This is definitely a great benefit to having an in home session vs a studio session.
I really enjoyed all of Johnny’s expressions. While he was definitely more serious during his session, he did break out the smiles occasionally! We finished off his photo shoot with a cake smash. How cute is he in daddy’s tie?! I think he enjoyed throwing the icing around and “painting” the backdrop more then eating it though! You can see the fun mess he made at the bottom of this post. Enjoy!
