Austin Cake Smash Photography
This Austin cake smash photography session was an absolute blast! Aylin’s parents wanted to celebrate her first birthday with a portrait session to capture her at this age. They mentioned before the session that she might be shy and cry a bit before warming up. However, this sweetie proved her parents wrong and came ready to party instead. From the moment she came into the studio it was nothing but giggles, smiles, and full out personality. By the end of our session she was my newest little best friend.
The Family
Like a majority of my first birthday clients, mom & dad opted to start with a family portrait. They chose to wear pink to coordinate with the other backdrops we used throughout the session. We dressed Aylin in one of my favorite cream dresses from my client closet and added a cute floral headband. I love how their outfits look together!
The Portraits
Like I mentioned, this girl was so full of personality. Before we started with the Austin cake smash photography, I wanted to capture some fun classic portraits. We did a quick outfit swap and mom picked this beautiful mauve tulle dress and floral headband from my client closet. Once I sat Aylin on my favorite bed prop she was ready to go. All I had to do was talk and sing to her and she hammed it up for the camera. It is so hard to pick a favorite picture from this part of our session. I love her grabbing her little toes, her close up is just perfect, and the picture with her hands up and scrunchy smile is absolutely adorable too! I’m so glad her parents chose to print all three. Just like most babies, she loved knocking over my O-N-E letter blocks. After a bit of patience and setting them up a few times, I captured the perfect shot. I know these are the perfect classic portraits to capture her first birthday.
The Cake Smash
It’s no surprise that I’m a huge fan of using flowers in my work so this simple boho floral set was a dream to create. We did one more outfit change into the popular bell sleeve lace romper from my client closet. Now the fun part: capturing her Austin cake smash photography session! As soon as I gave her the cake she pulled off the topper and flowers in record time then gave the cake a good shove. Timber! It’s fairly inevitable that the cake will take a tumble from the stand. I love capturing baby’s face when they realize it’s going down. It’s all part of the smash! Once the cake was safely on the ground she dove right in and enjoyed the delicious cake from Kiss My Cakes. She squished it, threw it, smashed it, and even ate some of it. Its safe to say she had a fun time and enjoyed her first birthday cake smash.
We finished off all the fun with a quick dip in the tub. This precious girl loved her bath just like everything else. After a bit of encouragement from me, she had a wonderful time splashing in the water. I absolutely love the big splash she made. It made for such a fun picture! This first birthday portrait session was so enjoyable and left me with huge smiles and fond memories. I’m so glad I could capture Aylin’s big personality for her parents.
